Más de 80 países se unen al llamado mundial a la acción, la expresión más significativa del compromiso hasta la fecha. La planificación y la implementación real se requiere de todos los interesados ​​ahora.

Londres , 17 de Marzo de 2015: Enfermedad de Alzheimer Internacional acoge con satisfacción los resultados de la primera Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS ) Conferencia Ministerial sobre la Acción Global contra la demencia . El evento se celebró en Ginebra (16 a 17 marzo 2015 ) fue la mayor reunión de representantes gubernamentales de alto nivel y reconocido la magnitud del problema de la enfermedad de Alzheimer y otras demencias.

La Conferencia Ministerial de la escala de los compromisos anteriores asumidos por los países del G-7, proporcionando un foro internacional fundamental para los debates sobre el cuidado, el tratamiento, la conciencia, los derechos humanos y las mejores prácticas. Enfermedad de Alzheimer Internacional (ADI) participó activamente en la reunión con representantes de habla y presidir numerosas sesiones.

Durante los dos días, los ministros de todo el mundo, así como expertos de las comunidades de la investigación, clínicos y de ONG discutieron los problemas mundiales que plantea la demencia. Los participantes estuvieron de acuerdo en una llamada a la acción en hacer de la demencia una prioridad de salud global y canalizar el impulso de acciones específicas.

 

En todo el mundo, más de 47 millones de personas viven actualmente con demencia. Hay un nuevo caso de demencia cada 4 segundos. En 2010, el costo global de la atención de la demencia se calculó en US $ 604000 millones, lo que representa alrededor del 1% del PIB mundial (producto interno bruto). Fundamentalmente, casi dos tercios de las personas con demencia viven en países de bajos y medianos ingresos. En 2050, esa cifra aumentará a 71%.

Marc Wortmann, director ejecutivo de la Enfermedad de Alzheimer Internacional, comentó: “Tenemos que aumentar los esfuerzos en la investigación, sino también reconocer el papel de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil como los principales defensores mejoras en la atención y las políticas de la demencia. La única forma de avanzar es a través de una acción coordinada global. ADI se ha comprometido a trabajar en estrecha colaboración con la Organización Mundial de la Salud, la OCDE y los gobiernos nacionales, la creación de una plataforma de acción global y coordinada a nivel nacional “.

En respuesta a la conferencia ministerial de la OMS sobre la demencia, la enfermedad de Alzheimer Internacional coordinó una exposición de más de 40 organizaciones de la sociedad civil, que propone una serie de recomendaciones clave para la acción futura:

  1. Asegúrese de que las personas con demencia y sus familias se ponen en el centro de todas las políticas.
  2. Implementar y dar los pasos necesarios hacia la ambición para identificar una cura o una terapia modificadora de la enfermedad para la demencia en el año 2025, aprobado por la Cumbre del G8 celebrada en diciembre de 2013, y para aumentar colectivamente y de manera significativa la cantidad de fondos para la investigación de la demencia para llegar ese objetivo. Sugerimos que cada país debe aumentar su presupuesto público de investigación para el 1% de la cantidad que el país gasta en atención de la demencia.
  3. Incrementar los esfuerzos en otras áreas de investigación, como la investigación en modelos de atención eficaces; prevalencia, la incidencia y la mortalidad, la prevención y la reducción del riesgo a un nivel comparable, y aumentar el enfoque en la traducción de la investigación a la práctica.
  4. Reconocer el valor de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil, incluidas las asociaciones de Alzheimer y fundaciones de investigación de Alzheimer como defensores clave para las mejoras en la atención de la demencia y las políticas y apoyar a estas organizaciones. Esto debe incluir un papel para las personas que viven con demencia.
  5. Crear y financiar un flujo de trabajo de la demencia para los países de bajos y medianos ingresos y desarrollar programas de sensibilización y mejorar la respuesta del sistema de salud con la inclusión de socios procedentes de esos países.
  6. Facilitar una mayor colaboración en el intercambio de las mejores prácticas en el cuidado de la demencia y la creación de comunidades amigas de demencia.
